Tonys. Chocolate Covered Strawberries Review.

 

I'm picky about chocolate covered strawberries, I prefer them fresh and milk chocolate covered but I wanted to try these chocolate covered freeze dried strawberries. 

I hate the texture, the outside is a thick powdery chocolate and the inside is a crunchy dusty dry strawberry, if you've ever had freeze dried fruit before, you'd know the texture but this is worse being a whole strawberry. I will say the flavour is delicious, I enjoyed the fruit and the fruit with the chocolate together, tastes great. As much as I enjoyed them I don't think I could buy them and eat them again but I rate them 4/5.

Monster. Punch. Pipeline Punch Energy Drink Review.

 

I've done quite a few reviews from this brand (search them on my blog) and today I'm trying the pipeline punch.

It tastes like a weird cherry pop with a bit of citrus, it's not a pleasant flavour and I don't think it goes together. I would not buy it or drink it again and I rate it 2.5/5.

Pop Daddy Pretzels. Dill Pickle Pretzels Review.

 

This is my first time trying this brand, I got the dill pickle pretzels. 

These are delicious, they have a powerful but tasty dill flavour, one of the nicest dill pickle flavours I've had in a snack and the pretzel itself is pretty good. I would buy these and eat them again and I rate them 4/5.

McCain. Ham and Cheddar Pockets Review.

 

I've done a few other reviews from this brand (search them on my blog) and today I'm trying the ham and cheddar pockets.

I really like these, I though feel it's more cheesy than anything, overtaking the ham and I feel the ham is skimped on and small in size but good tasting. I don't love the dough, I prefer the Marche Harvest pockets they did, or like a Hot Pocket or Stouffers crustini. I will be honest, I find this almost too gooey, I'm not one for gooey things but it doesn't affect my rating enough, they are still enjoyable. I don't know if I'd buy them again as I didn't love them but I'd absolutely eat them if offered and I rate them a 4/5.

Bear. Mango Fruit Rolls Review.

 

This is my first time trying this brand, this is a fruit roll, a lot like a Fruit 2 Go. This is the mango flavour and it comes with a cute collectible card, this one has an anteater on it. (Sorry I didn't take another photo, a better photo.)

This was not nice to chew, more firm and dry than a Fruit 2 Go and the flavour comes and goes, the flavour is not consistent and I feel it's boring and not very mango, you can tell there's no added sugar. It's not great overall, I'm sure there are better brands, or of course much better homemade. I would not buy it or eat it again and I rate it 2.5/5.

Ben's Original. Street Food. Chicken Teriyaki Review.

This was the last Ben's street food I bought and the last one I will likely ever buy. This one is teriyaki chicken with rice.

It smelled like dried meat sticks for dogs but tasted a lot better than it smelled, still wasn't good in flavour but it didn't taste as bad as it smelled. It had a cheap burnt teriyaki flavour and the usual canned rice flavour but less canned rice flavour than the previous two I've had. I couldn't taste vegetables and the chicken was more like dried dark chunks of meat, it was strange for chicken and didn't taste like chicken. I would not buy it again but I'd eat it if I had to and I rate it 3/5.

Midnight Snack. Sour Strawberry Skulls Review.

 

I've done one other review from this store (search it on my blog) and today I'm trying the sour strawberry skulls.

These don't taste like strawberry, more like raspberry meets black currant almost, like a weird berry and I didn't really like the flavour. They are a bit sour but not much and their texture is a more firm marshmallow, I like the texture. I didn't really enjoy these, I'm disappointed because they look and sound great, I wish they tasted like strawberry. I would not buy these or likely eat them again and I rate them 3/5. I did want to mention they smell a little like dirty socks which is strange but you cannot taste that thankfully.

El Jefe. Sinister Razz Energy Drink Review.

I've done one other review from this brand (search it on my blog) and today I'm trying the sinister razz.

It's really good, like a blue raspberry candy meets a blue freezie. I don't love it as much as the Ghost blue sour patch kids but this is very nice. I would consider buying it again but I'd definitely drink it again if offered and I rate it 4/5. 

Becky's Soda Bar. Strawberry Iced Matcha Review.

 

This is my first matcha drink, I have had matcha in snacks such as Pocky and Kit Kat but this is my first drink and I got the strawberry iced matcha. The Strawberry was lovely, good amount of sweetness and strawberry flavour. The matcha was like powdered grass, though not as strong as I thought it would be but I wasn't a fan, though my rating is better than the 0 I assumed I'd give it. I will also say my stomach hated it, so I will not be drinking anymore matcha but I rate it 2.5/5.

WTFun. Banana, Strawberry and Mango Fruit Cakes.

 

I popped in yesterday to try their version of the viral fruit cakes. The owner was so lovely, very sociable, friendly with a great vibe and smile. She is also very generous, as I will be honest in saying, she gifted me the banana dessert, when I purchased the other two, which is the first time I've ever experienced that and I was surprised and very grateful.

So I got the banana for free and I personally purchased the strawberry and mango ones and despite getting an item for free and the service being amazing, I will review the items honestly.

Banana: the banana flavour is good, not fake in taste and the texture inside is nice but something about it I did not like, it was almost earthy and almost bitter in taste and the outside was a bit too thick and waxy, I was not a fan of this one 2/5.

Strawberry: tasted like a strawberry shortcake, which is not a cake I enjoy but this was better than the cakes I've had. It was soft inside and out, the strawberry filling was a little tart and the texture was not for me personally. It had a thinner layer on the outside which I preferred and made it less waxy. This one also had an almost earthy and almost bitter taste to it. Overall it was alright 2.5/5.

Mango: the mango flavour was bright, fresh and delicious but this one did not sit well as we tried the other two, the inside got very mushy. The outside layer was a nice thickness, an in-between the other two. This also tasted similar to the other two in that way I did not enjoy but a bit better, masked by the delicious mango. I didn't love it but it was the best out of the three 3/5.

I found these cakes taste a lot like Middle Eastern milk cake that I've had before, which I do not enjoy but this was a bit more of a pleasant experience and I did like the fruit flavours, each fruit flavour was fresh and real but these overall were not to my taste personally. I would absolutely visit again to try other items but I would not buy anymore of these fruit cakes.

Chef Bombay. Butter Chicken Review.

 

I've done two other reviews from this brand (search them on my blog) and today I'm trying the butter chicken.

It's watered down and not very flavourful but the heat is there and it is nice. I felt the chicken was fine in taste and texture for frozen chicken and the rice was alright but I will admit I don't love basmati rice, as much as I am a butter chicken lover. This just wasn't really like butter chicken but it overall wasn't too bad. I wouldn't buy it again but maybe I'd eat it if offered and I rate it 3.5/5.

Ben's Original. Street Food. Bean and Rice Burrito Bowl Review.

 

I've done one other review from this brand (search it on my blog) and today I'm trying the bean and rice burrito bowl.

It tastes like canned rice and canned beans, with that weird flavour and smell you get from a lot of canned and packet foods, especially from the dollar store. There is a spice to it which is nice but no other flavours, you cannot even taste peppers or corn and it's also really dry. I would not buy it and only eat if I had to and I rate it 2/5.

Kraft Dinner Ramen. Medium Cheesy Ramen Review.

 

I've tried a few items from this brand and one other of the ramen for review (search them on my blog) and today I'm trying the medium spice cheesy ramen.

It's better than the first one, I've though learned after this second try, do not overmix it and do not let it sit too long, as the texture and taste is more rough when it gets overmixed and even lukewarm. I will say it tastes better, it doesn't taste as ramen packety, less salty in flavour and the little spice is good, I think the spice was needed. I still did not enjoy this flavour and texture wise, it's still strange. I would not buy it or eat it again and I rate it 2/5.

Meiji. White Chocolate Strawberry Ice Cream Bar Review.

 

I've done one other review from this brand (search it on my blog) and today I'm trying the white chocolate strawberry ice cream bar. (Sorry I lost the photo of the cross-section but the inside is strawberry ice cream with strawberry pieces, like the pieces on the outside.)

This bar is delicious, it's now one of my all-time favourite ice cream. The white chocolate shell has a good flavour, it's great in texture and not too thick like some other brands of bars and the white chocolate pairs great with the strawberry ice cream and pieces. The strawberry ice cream and pieces have a great fruity and fresh flavour that have a good amount of sweetness and are not too tart. This is a great flavour combination and overall a a delicious bar, this bar is up there with the strawberry shortcake crunch. I of course would buy these and eat them again and I rate them 5/5.

Midnight Snack. Swedish Candy Review.

 

This is my first time trying Swedish candy, this candy has been going viral for a while and I am late to the party but finally found a place near me that does them. I got a mixed bag but sadly it didn't contain the sour strawberry bites I wanted to try, they do sell those buy in bags on their own and for the price I wasn't sure if I was ready to commit to a whole bag, in case I didn't like them but I might grab them anyway next time I'm over there.

Blue tube: it was salty yet sugary, tasted like chemicals and froot loops, tough with too firm of a texture and it was not nice to bite .5/5.

Brown and yellow Bubs: it was like a marshmallow but more foamy, firm and spongy and tasted like the chocolate banana marshmallows from Dare 3.5/5.

Mushrooms: it had a nice foamy marshmallow texture but more marshmallow than the Bubs, it tastes like cotton candy and bubblegum and I really liked it despite not being much of a bubblegum person 4/5.

Red and yellow skull: it was like a gummy meets taffy texture, it's a bit sour and the flavour is like a raspberry lemonade but the lemon is a bit like cleaner, like chemicals but not too bad 3/5.

Pink Bubs: it was bubble gum, with a fine texture, the same as the previous Bubs foamy, firm and spongey 3/5.

Rose gummy: It tasted like rose hand soap but not too bad surpassingly, texturally it was nice and soft and juicy 3/5.

Brownish yellow Bubs: It was sour at first then not sour, tasted almost like root beer with lemon 3/5.

Light greenish blue Bubs: It tasted like foam sunscreen, with the texture being foamy as the other Bubs and that made the flavour even worse, as you think you're eating sunscreen, it was awful 0/5.

Orange and green Bubs: It was apple or strawberry, meets maybe orange, with a nice texture, chewy but a bit squishy and soft 3.5/5.

Pink and blue skull: It was tangy, a little sour and the flavour was cotton candy and bubble gum, I enjoyed the flavour and it had a nice texture, a bit foamy and soft, like the other skull and I really liked it 4/5.

Dave's Hot Chicken. Chicken Slider and Fries Review.

This is my first and probably last time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. It was like a nightclub in the restaurant, with quite loud music but a lot of throwback club hits, from my youth which was pretty cool. (Sorry I realized the photo of the sandwich bitten, does not look good, does not show off the chicken sandwich properly, I should've eaten half before taking a photo.)

I got the slider and fries, it didn't even come with a drink, we had to order drinks separately and for two of us to eat and each get a small pop it was quite expensive. I was able to try the no spice chicken and the lite mild chicken.

The fries were almost pub style, a little over seasoned some of them but had a nice flavour and bite to them and they were rather crispy. I felt they were pretty good but I wasn't wowed and felt they didn't need seasoning 3.5/5.

The sauce on the side and on the slider, is like a burger sauce but more sweet and I was unsure if it tasted more mustardy or ketchupy and almost vinegary and the sauce was thinner. I don't think the sauce goes with the seasoning on the fries but fine on the slider, overall I wasn't a fan 2.5/5.

The no spice chicken I didn't really enjoy, it's kinda boring and in the breading something was odd about it, that I felt didn't taste great, this though was not too much different than a frozen breaded chicken but the chicken quality I would say was a bit better and the portion was greater but not much different 3.5/5.

Lastly the lite mild chicken, I felt the chicken needed this spice, it was better but still I wasn't wowed, you can barely taste the chicken it's mostly breading and seasoning you taste but I did think the lite mild had a nice kick 3.5/5. 

I think I could personally handle the mild but I don't think the lite mild was a bad choice. I also wanted to note that the buns are not completely cut, they are hinged and I did not like that and found myself ripping the top part off, to place on top, as the sandwiches did not nicely close and the no spice chicken was a bigger piece than the other. I also found that the kale slaw on the sandwiches made the bottom bun a big soggy, I did not even care for nor really taste the slaw, I would've preferred regular coleslaw or none at all.

I think you can find similar or better food for a cheaper price at other restaurants, this one did not stand out from the rest.

Kraft Dinner Ramen. Extra Cheesy. Cheesy Ramen Review.

 

I've done a few reviews from this brand (search them on my blog) and today I'm trying the extra cheesy ramen. I also do have the medium spice one to try next time for review.

It's rough, it's a sticky greasy glob of ramen with powdered cheese and instant ramen seasoning, I feel these flavours don't go together and of course it is very salty. Overall an unpleasant experience and I would not buy or eat it again and I rate it 1.5/5.

Update: I've learned after having the second one, do not overmix and do not let it sit too long, as the texture and taste is more rough when it gets overmixed and even lukewarm.

MomChipz. Sweet Potato Chips Review.

 

This is my first time trying this brand of veggie chips, this is the sweet potato chips.

I did not enjoy the flavour of the purple ones, they were a bit strange but the other two were fine, overall I wasn't a fan of any of them and I much prefer sweet potato in mashed or fry form. I would not buy them or eat them again and I rate them 2.5/5.

Update: They are growing on me, even the purple ones and I now think I would buy them and eat them again and I now rate them 3.5/5.

El Jefe. Wild Mango Energy Drink Review.

 

This is my first review from this brand, I got the wild mango. I love the can, it's so cool, I think the branding is awesome.

This tastes of a good mango but a bit more rich and more grown-up than regular mango, unlike anything I've had before, I don't love it but it is fairly good. I don't think I'd buy it again but I'd considering drinking it if offered and I rate it 3.5/5.

These are quite tart, they are grape and orange, the flavour is juicy and nice, I just don't love them, as I do not gravitate to either purple grape or orange flavours but I rate them 3.5/5.
